Lessons from John 13:12-20

Jesus knowingly washed the feet of the one who was about to betray Him.

Blessing does not come with the knowledge; it is in the doing.

It's not so much the doctrine, but the action that flows out of the doctrine. However, the actions won't be right if the doctrine is not right. Therefore, doctrine is crucial.

Jesus chose Judas to follow Him, because Scripture had to be fulfilled, there had to be a traitor. Yet, Judas willingly cooperated with Satan.

The Holy Spirit is not using us to interpret Scripture. We can't pull out an Old Testament verse and apply it to our situation.

We shouldn't try to reconcile a doctrine/principle that Scripture doesn't reconcile.

Another "Last"

My last child now has a driver's license. I knew this day would come, and it is a bit freeing for me, but... So many of the things in my life are coming to an end this year. I now have no more children that I have to teach to drive. First thing Moriah said when we got in the car after she passed her driver's test was that I am no longer in instructor mode, now I am in critique mode. As nice as that sounds, to me it is just another "last" I will be going through over the next few months.  Sure, it will be nice to have another person to send to the store for a few items when I don't want to get out. And it will be nice that she can take herself to dance and bring herself home instead of having to stop whatever I may be doing in order to make the run. Interesting Happenings

Last week the South was hit by the worst tornado weather system of the ages. Northern Alabama and north Georgia were devastated. Some cities were almost wiped off the map. The footage on the news was heartbreaking. I know as a Christian our treasures are not to be in our earthly, material possessions. But how do you stand on what used to be your front yard and look at the pieces of rubble that used to be your house and all your belongings, now just a pile of kindling? I cannot image how devastating that must be for those affected. Friday of last week, April 29, heir to the throne of England, Prince William, married Catherine (Kate) Middleton, a commoner. It was the wedding of the century! Of course, that is also what they called the wedding of Prince William's parents, Prince Charles and Lady Diana Spencer, 30 years ago!
