It’s Mother’s Day, again!

 Mother’s Day.

When I was growing up, this was a day where your mother was shown love, honor and gratitude for all she did for your family, and others. Today, it’s not the same. Young mothers today seem to expect to have the day for themselves. After all, haven’t they deserved to have a day off from their mothering duties?!

Respect for the mother whose children no longer live at home is a thing of the past.

Then there are those of us who no longer have our mother on earth. What do we do? There’s no one to send a card to. There’s no phone call to make. There’s no one to buy flowers for. Mother’s Day is just a painful reminder that your mother is no longer here.

So as Mother’s Day approaches this year, I will try to remember the good times with my mom and not let the “day” be a painful reminder of what I no longer have.
