Hope for the Weary

He gives strength to the faint and strengthens the powerless. Youths may become faint and weary, and young men stumble and fall, but those who trust in the LORD will renew their strength; they will soar on wings like eagles; they will walk and not faint. ~Is. 40:29-31 The God who never grows faint will give you power-and never lose any Himself. The God who never gets fatigued will energize you-and never wane in energy Himself. The God who has unlimited control and unlimited understanding is in perfect control of your circumstances and promises that they will never be more than He can handle. Our God is: Unlimited by time Unlimited in control Unlimited in power Unlimited in understanding. ~ROH 4/13/23 These are the words I live by these days. The days grow long and weary, as does my physical body. But my God has it all under His control. Nothing comes into my life without His knowledge or approval. Thank you, God, for being the all-powerful, loving God that holds today and all my t...

Walk According to the Fruit

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. And those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit. Let us not become conceited, provoking one another, envying one another. ~Gal. 5:22-26 He has told you, O man, what is good; and what does the LORD require of you but to do justice, and to love kindness, and to walk humbly with your God? ~Micah 6:8 Dear Lord, May I learn to do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly according to the fruit of Your Spirit that lives within me.

Don’t Be Faithless, But Believe

Believing in Jesus during our darkest hours acknowledges our disappointments while also gazing at the evidence of His goodness in our lives. It’s choosing to say that although believing may be difficult because of the storm, you are still willing. ~She Reads Truth 1 Peter 1:3-7 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. In this you rejoice, though now for a little while, if necessary, you have been grieved by various trials, so that the tested genuineness of your faith-more precious than gold that perishes though it is tested by fire-may be found to result in praise and glory and honor at the revelation of Jesus Christ.

A Disappointing Day

To say today was a disappointing day is a little of an understatement. First, we went to a doctor that we were referred to by the PT doctor. He was supposed to help with the hamstring problem David is having. Well, this doctor is not a knee doctor, much less helpful with hamstrings. He is a foot and ankle specialist. He said he would try to get us to a knee specialist within the practice. Second, at physical therapy David’s knee measurements were not only worse, in the therapist’s words “much worse.”  But God… In my devotional readings today, I was taken to Psalm 122. Verses 7 & 8 say, “He (the righteous) is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the LORD. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid…” Thank You, dear Father, for always going ahead of me and for providing exactly what I need when I need it. Thank You for the truth of Your word, alive and active! So, today is now over and tomorrow is a new chance to experience God’s goodness and grace. His mercies ...

Easter 2023

This was the moment that all of redemptive history had been hurtling toward. He was not there; He had risen from the grave. Death, the grave, and the gates of hell could not prevail against our Savior. (Taken from She Reads Truth) “God raised Him up, ending the pains of death, because it was not possible for Him to be held by death.” ~Acts 2:24 It is the resurrection, and only the resurrection, that changes sadness, sorrow and defeat into hope, joy and power. (From Truth for Life) Today is not like any other Easter I have ever had. David is recovering from 4 months in the hospital due to COVID. He is dealing with many physical limitations as a result of those 4 months of lying in a hospital bed, not moving. He struggles to walk. He cannot eat solid food. His body is in pain all day, every day.  So, instead of spending today in church celebrating the risen Lord, we will watch a service online. Instead of spending the afternoon with our children and grandchildren, only one wil...
