A Song on Mother's Day 2020

God sent His Son, they called Him Jesus.
He came to love, heal and forgive;
He lived and died to buy my pardon.
An empty grave is there to prove my Savior lives.

Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because he lives.

How sweet to hold a newborn baby
And feel the pride, and joy he gives;
But greater still the calm assurance,
This child can face uncertain days because He lives.

Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because he lives.

And then one day I'll cross the river,
I'll fight life's final war with pain;
And then as death gives way to victory,
I'll see the lights of glory and I'll know He lives.

Because He lives I can face tomorrow,
Because He lives all fear is gone;
Because I know He holds the future
And life is worth the living just because he lives.

When I was growing up in the 70's this song was very popular. We sang it at church more times than I can remember. I seem to remember singing it as a duet one time also! It was a staple number in the Southern Baptist Church.

We had our first in-person church service on Mother's Day after the statewide shelter-in-place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We sang this song. The memories of standing in church with my mom singing this song were overwhelming. It always amazes me how much a song can stir emotions, ones you did not even realize were right on the brink.
