Thanksgiving Begins
Since Americans acknowledge Thanksgiving in November, people have a tendency to express thankfulness more than usual. Me included. This should not be; we should express our thanks each and every day. Every breath we breathe is a gift of God.
So to join in, I desire to express a "thanks" each day. We'll see how it goes! (I am 5 days behind already!)
Listening to Bible study today, I was so clearly reminded of God's redemptive plan for mankind. Jesus Christ paid the price for man's sin debt with His own life's blood. God had this plan from before time began. That is a hard thing for we mere humans to comprehend. Nevertheless, it is what Scripture declares.
Ephesians 1: 3-6
"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world, that we would be holy and blameless before Him. In love He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved."
Philippians 2:5-8
"Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. Being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross."
So, God provided for our forgiveness and salvation. And then He went a little further:
Philippians 2:9-11
"For this reason also, God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus EVERY KNEE WILL BOW, of those who are in heaven and on earth and under the earth and that every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father."
The day is coming when all peoples will bow the knee and confess that Jesus Christ is Lord of Lords and King of Kings!
So to join in, I desire to express a "thanks" each day. We'll see how it goes! (I am 5 days behind already!)
