Psalm 103

Bless the LORD, O my soul, and all that is within me, bless His holy name! Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits,  who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good so that your youth is renewed like the eagle's. The LORD works righteousness and justice for all who are oppressed. He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the people of Israel. The LORD is merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love. He will not always chide, nor will He keep His anger forever. He does not deal with us according to our sins, nor repay us according to our iniquities. For as high as the heavens are above the earth, so great is His steadfast love toward those who fear Him; as far as the east is from the west, so far does He remove our transgressions from us. As a father shows compassion to his children, so the LORD shows compa...

"As Long As You are Glorified"

Shall I take from Your hand Your blessings Yet not welcome any pain? Shall I thank You for days of sunshine Yet grumble in days of rain? Shall I love You in times of plenty Then leave You in days of drought? Shall I trust when I reap a harvest But when winter winds blow, then doubt? O let Your will be done in me, In Your love I will abide. Oh, I long for nothing else as long as You are glorified! Are You good only when I prosper, And true only when I'm filled? Are You King only when I'm carefree And God only when I'm well? You are good when I'm poor and needy. You are true when I'm parched and dry. You still reign in the deepest valley. You're still God in the darkest night. O let Your will be done in me, In Your love I will abide. Oh, I long for nothing else as long as You are gloified! So quiet my restless heart, Quiet my restless heart, Quiet my restless heart in You. ~Sovereign Grace Music

The First Year is Over

I saw the text, but I was having a breakfast date with a sweet friend and I didn't want to respond to her right now. Two minutes, my phone rings. It's her. She is persistent today. She can leave a voicemail. She does. Out of sheer curiosity I listened to see what was so urgent.  "Call me immediately!" she said. What could possibly be so important that I need to call her immediately? So, I call. Part of me will always wish I had not, but now I know I had to eventually. "Are you sitting down? Are you alone or is David with you?" she asked. "What is going on?" I ask. "Mom's gone." she said. Did I just hear her correctly? Of course, I did. You can't not hear that correctly. The phone call you always expect but never want to receive. On her way to breakfast that morning, Mom had said she was not feeling well and asked her nurse to take her back to her room so she could lie down for a while. Two breaths. That's all i...

"I Will Glory in my Redeemer"

"I will glory in my Redeemer, whose priceless blood has ransomed me. Mine was the sin that drove the bitter nails and hung Him on the judgment tree. I will glory in my Redeemer, who crushed the power of sin and death; My only Savior before the Holy Judge, The Lamb who is my righteousness, The Lamb who is my righteousness. I will glory in my Redeemer; My life He bought, my love He owns. I have no longings for another; I'm satisfied in Him alone. I will glory in my Redeemer, His faithfulness, my standing place. Though foes are mighty and rush upon me, My feet are firm, held by His grace, My feet are firm, held by His grace. I will glory in my Redeemer, who carries me on eagle's wings. He crowns my life with lovingkindness; His triumph song I'll ever sing. I will glory in my Redeemer, who waits for me at gates of gold. And when He calls me, it will be paradise, His face forever to behold, His face forever to behold."

Wisdom in Words

“She opens her mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on her tongue.” These words remind me that wise women tuck Godly wisdom into the words they speak and even more into the words they choose not to speak. Not every thought needs to be shared. Not every opinion should be aired. And unchecked words that come too fast bring with them a rush of trouble. ~Proverbs 31:26; Lysa TerKeurst This hit me right where I live!  So, in light of the "new name" for this blog, I will try to weigh my words very carefully.

It's March!

Today is March 6. How did that happen?! Today is our daughter's 9 year wedding anniversary. It is a beautiful sunny day today, just like that day 9 years ago. It is very cold today, in the 30s. Every year I tell myself I am going to write on this blog more often, and yet, here it is into March and this is the first time I am writing, or even looking at it! January and February were cold and rainy. We endured a lot of sickness within the family; we like to share!! David turned 60 last weekend! Mom was moved into a nursing home in January; now, finally, Daddy gets to move there also. I am very interested to hear what their reactions will be when they see each other for the first time in 2 months. I so wish I could be there! My sisters have been taking care of everything for them for years; I fight the guilt of not being there to help. This is self-imposed guilt - my sisters are great at not throwing it in my face that I am not there.  Mom and Daddy have moved at least 4 times...
